BERIS’ NEW WATER TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY IN STEEL ROLLING FIELD LEADS DOMESTIC MARKET

   On October 24, 2014, the project named “The study of development and whole system integration on new water treatment technology of steel rolling plant” developed by BERIS with independent intellectual property passed the appraisal of experts inside and outside the province organized by Qinghai Science & Technology Department, and it is regarded as “this project has achieved domestic leading level” by expert committee. This technology is first successfully applied to the steel-making and steel-rolling production line of Steel Rolling Plant of Xining Special Steel Co., Ltd. Practical application proved that this technology features advanced technological level, stable and reliable operation, conspicuous economic and social benefits and promising application prospects.

  According to the development tendency of establishing “steel rolling plant” integrated with steel-making and steel-rolling, BERIS makes study on the water supply and drainage of “steel rolling plant” as a system. Corresponding to the water quality characteristics of clean circulating water system and turbid circulating water system in iron and steel plant, and in order to solve the problems of filter material hardening of bypass filtering equipment of clean circulating water and sludge fouling of turbid circulating water, BERIS has analyzed and studied existing technology and innovated key technology through integrated and optimized treatment process, and BERIS has developed upflow filtering equipment of clean circulating water system and magnetized deoiler of turbid circulating water system, which features short overall treatment process flow, good effluent effect, high utilization rate of circulation, water saving, reduced consumption, low operation cost and easy operation management, and is innovative technology extracted from traditional water treatment of steel rolling plant.

Innovative Technology of CLEAN Circulating Water System

---UpFlow Filtering Equipment

  In consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of traditional clean circulating water system and its bypass filtering equipment, and based on the principles as water saving and reduced discharge, BERIS has developed a new bypass filtering equipment of clean circulating water----upflow filtering equipment, which has been applied to clean circulating water system. Moreover, the blowdown water of clean circulating system and drain water from back wash of filter can be used in cascade way.

  Upflow filtering equipment, with its functions of flocculation, absorption and drift filtering etc., can replace such bypass filtering equipment as valve-less filter, shallow sand filter and other bypass filtering equipment. Compared with traditional bypass filtering equipment, major innovation is realized to the filer material and the internal structure of equipment.

  This upflow filtering equipment has successfully solved the key technical problems and difficulties such as incomplete backwashing water drainage, filter layer hardening, backwashing materials overflow and large floor area of traditional filtering system. It features high filtering velocity, high treatment capacity and small floor area. Not only can it remove suspension solid, but also organic contaminant, microelement (includes iron and manganese) and algae etc. in the water.

  The application of upflow filter and the cascade use of drain water from clean circulating water system make this process featuring good filtering effect, low backwashing water consumption, water saving and reduced consumption, and bypass filtering equipment features small floor area and less one-time investment, etc.

DEVELOPMENT OF New Technology of CLEAN Circulating Water Treatment

----Magnetized Deoiler cleaning Technology

  In consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of traditional turbid circulating water treatment process flow, BERIS has developed new technology of turbid circulating water treatment process of steel rolling plant----magnetized deoiler cleaning technology, which has solved the problems in traditional treatment system such as multiple treatment buildings and structures, large floor area, high investment cost, incomplete sludge cleaning, complicated operation and high energy consumption.

  The research and development of this magnetized deoiler cleaning technology have gone through improvement of generations and the system optimization, and it involves 3 proprietary technologies.  Magnetized deoiler cleaning technology applies integration technologies includes chemicals coagulation, centrifugal settling, filtering, sludge reflow and residual pressure utilization, etc. The application of magnetized deoiler equipment has taken the place of two traditional units, i.e. sedimentation and filtering; the application of residual pressure has reduced investment and operation cost; the application of sludge reflow has achieved sludge re-flocculation sedimentation and the removal of sludge, and it canceled the original sludge treatment structures; the application of automation technology has achieved centralized operation management, reduced operators number, improved managerial efficiency and lowered management cost.

  The research and development of this turbid circulating water treatment technology takes full advantages of comprehensive actions of magnetized deoiler equipment, sludge reflow technology and chemicals to realize less floor area, saved investment, reduced operation cost and energy saving and reduced emission on the premise of meeting users’ requirements to technical conditions of water.

promising Market Application Prospect

  This technology has made innovations on the key technology through integrated and optimized treatment process to establish new technology of circulating water treatment of steel rolling plant. It features short overall treatment process flow, good effluent effect, high utilization rate of circulation, water saving and reduced consumption, and it is innovative technology extracted from traditional water treatment of steel rolling plant, and it has great promotion and application value in iron and steel plants, and even industrial waste water and other fields.

  The technology was applied successively in Steel Rolling Plant of Xining Special Steel Co., Ltd. in September 2013. Practical application has proved that this technology is leading in process level and stable and reliable in operation. The suspension solid concentration in effluent from bypass filter of clean circulating water system is £3mg/L, and removal rate is > 80%; the suspension solid concentration of effluent from magnetized deoiler of turbid circulating water system is £20mg/L, and oil content is £5mg/L.

  On the basis of precise theoretical demonstration and experimental test, this technology can save about 50% in land occupation, about 50% in investment and about 40% in operation cost compared with traditional technology,

  The new technology of circulating water treatment saves fresh water consumption, reduces operation costs, and complies with requirements of safe operation, environmental protection, saved energy consumption and reduced water consumption; moreover, it is easy for maintenance and operation management. The overall circulating water treatment system is designed reasonably, and it can acquire favorable environmental, economic and social benefits. Compared with water treatment system of same capacity, it can save large amount of operation management costs, and it has great promotion and application value.

  In view of the technology features of bypass filtering technology of upflow filtering equipment and magnetized deoiler cleaning technology, it features better removal effect of oil, iron chip, slag, earth and other little sediments, and such advantages as energy-saving, reduced emission, and recycling economy. The technology can process circulating water of steel rolling plant, and it has great effect on circulating water treatment of iron-making, sintering, coal and other processes. Moreover, due to special structure and flexible configuration of filter material of magnetized deoiler, the technology has great removal effect on organic matter and inorganic matter in wastewater, thus it has great promotion of demonstration value in fields of industrial effluent and municipal sewage etc. Currently, BERIS is devoted to research and experiment for promotion and application of the technology in fields of industrial effluent and municipal sewage etc. As a metallurgical design company, “there is a need to take the responsibility of leading China metallurgical development to a higher level by using unique core technology, continuing innovative ability and irreplaceable overall industry chain integration advantages of metallurgical industry”.
